MEET & GREET
Arrive at the Ijams Crag trailhead parking area in Knoxville. Your certified climbing guide will greet you, introduce the group, and outline the day’s itinerary before leading you to the climbing site.

GEAR UP & ORIENTATION
Get fitted with your helmet, harness, and climbing shoes. Your guide will go over safety procedures, climbing etiquette, and how to use each piece of gear correctly for outdoor conditions.

CLIMBING TECHNIQUES & PRACTICE
Start the day learning core techniques: tying knots, belaying basics, climbing communication, and footwork. You’ll practice on beginner-friendly routes to build confidence and control.

CLIMB, LEARN & EXPLORE
Tackle real rock climbs at Ijams Crag under close supervision. Your guide will support you with coaching and tips as you progress to more challenging routes based on your comfort level.

WRAP-UP & CLUB INVITE
After your final climb, unwind with a short debrief and group photo. You’ll also receive your Lifetime Climbing Club Membership details and insider info for future adventures.

Arrival & Hike Details
Meet your guide at the designated parking area near Ijams Crag in Knoxville, Tennessee. Please arrive 15–20 minutes early. You'll be away from your vehicle throughout the session — wear sturdy shoes and bring a small daypack with essentials.

  • Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses

Age & Fitness Requirements

  • Suitable for ages 10 and up
  • No prior climbing experience needed
  • Participants must be in good physical condition
  • Must be able to hike short distances and stand for extended periods
  • Minors must be accompanied by a participating adult

Safety & Supervision

  • All climbs are supervised by experienced, certified guides
  • Top-rope belay systems used for maximum safety
  • All necessary climbing gear (helmet, harness, shoes) is provided

Our Guides
Every guide is trained in Wilderness First Aid, CPR, and has over a decade of outdoor instruction experience. You're in expert hands throughout the session.

Legal Note
In accordance with labor laws, instructors will take a short scheduled break during the session. This is an ideal time for participants to rest, hydrate, and refuel.

Transportation
Transportation is not provided. Participants must arrange their own travel to the meeting point.
