Ever wondered what it's like to fly a plane? Now’s your chance! This hands-on introductory flight experience in Des Moines lets you step into the cockpit and take control under the guidance of an experienced FAA-certified flight instructor.

Your adventure begins with a tour of the training facility, where you'll get an introduction to aviation and aircraft operations. After a pre-flight briefing, you’ll take off for a 45-minute flight over Iowa, during which you’ll have the opportunity to pilot the aircraft under expert supervision. Participation Guidelines

Who Can Take Part?

Age: Open to all ages.
Height: Participants must be between 5’0” and 6’5” tall.
Weight Limits:
- Individual limit: 250 lbs per person
- Flying with a friend? Combined weight cannot exceed 400 lbs
Physical Ability: Participants must be able to enter and exit the aircraft unassisted and take part in the flight lesson.

Additional Notes

Children: Children are welcome as long as they meet the height requirement of 5’0”.
Pets: Pets are not allowed during the experience.
Accessibility: The aircraft is not wheelchair accessible.

Experience Overview

What Happens on the Day?

Total Duration: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, including ground instruction and flight time.
Flight Lesson Includes: Pre-flight briefing, hands-on flight experience, and post-flight Q&A session.
Who’s Onboard: Only participants and the FAA-certified instructor will be in the plane.
Spectators: Friends and family are welcome to watch from the designated viewing area.
Photos/Videos: Participants are encouraged to bring a camera to capture their experience.

Weather: This experience depends on safe flying conditions. If the weather isn’t suitable, your pilot will reschedule. Safety is always the top priority.
Arrival Time: Please arrive at your scheduled time.
Location/Parking: Parking is available at the training facility at Des Moines International Airport.
What to Wear: Dress comfortably for the weather. Closed-toe shoes are required. Sunglasses are recommended.
What to Bring: Bring your photo ID, a camera, and sunglasses.
Gratuity: Tips for your pilot are not included in the experience cost.
Restrooms: Available at the check-in location.
