Participation Guidelines

Who Can Take Part?

  • Age: Minimum age of 16
  • Height: Participants must be between 5’1” and 6’5” tall.
  • Weight Limits:
    • Individual limit: 240 lbs per person
    • Flying with a friend? Combined weight cannot exceed 370 lbs
  • Physical Ability: Participants must be able to enter and exit the aircraft without assistance and take part in the flight lesson.
  • Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen
  • Medical Requirements: Must be eligible for a 3rd Class Medical Certificate

Additional Notes:

  • This offer is available to San Diego County residents only
  • Passengers are not permitted on introductory flights
  • Flights must be completed on two separate days
  • A three-hour orientation class is required before scheduling flights
  • A photo ID and either a Birth Certificate, Passport, or Green Card must be presented before scheduling
  • No refunds for unused portions of flight time
  • Pets: Unfortunately, pets are not allowed during the experience.
  • Accessibility: The aircraft is not wheelchair accessible.

What Happens on the Day?

  • Total Duration: Approximately 4 hours, including ground instruction and flight time
  • Flight Lesson Includes: A combination of pre-flight instruction and in-air flight training
  • Who’s Onboard: Only you and your FAA-certified instructor
  • Spectators: Friends and family are welcome to watch from designated areas

  • Arrival Time: A 24-hour advance confirmation is required for scheduled flights
  • Location/Parking: Parking is available at Golden State Flying Club, located at 1640 North Johnson Ave, El Cajon, CA 92020
  • What to Wear: Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are required
  • What to Bring: A valid photo ID, sunglasses, and a camera
  • Refunds: No refunds for any unused portion of flight time
  • Scheduling Notice: Flight schedules are subject to change based on weather, aircraft availability, and other factors
