Arrival and Flight Details
Your adventure begins early at the Black Hills Balloons Hangar in Custer, South Dakota. After parking your vehicle, you’ll travel to the launch site in one of the company’s insured vans. Once on-site, the crew will begin inflating the balloon as you enjoy the chance to take photos and learn about the flight process.
Check-In and Orientation
Upon arrival, you’ll receive a safety briefing from the pilot while the balloon is prepared. Once the balloon is ready, you’ll board and prepare for lift-off.
The Flight Experience
Enjoy approximately one hour of a peaceful, scenic flight as you float above the Black Hills at sunrise. This is the best time of day for calm winds and clear views. From your unique vantage point, take in the beauty of:
• Custer Valley
• Custer State Park
• Mount Rushmore (in the distance)
• Crazy Horse Memorial
• Wind Cave National Park
• Rolling prairies and mountain ranges
• Wildlife including bison, elk, deer, and more

After landing, the crew will pack up the balloon while you celebrate with a complimentary champagne toast, light refreshments, and a story about the history of hot air ballooning. You’ll then return to the hangar via van.
