This is a strenuous hike requiring good physical fitness and hiking experience. Participants should wear proper hiking boots with ankle support and bring at least 2 liters of water per person. Weather conditions can change rapidly at the summit, so dress in layers and pack rain gear regardless of the forecast. The trail includes technical rock scrambles that require the use of hands. Hiking poles are recommended for the descent. Transportation is provided from convenient pickup locations in NYC, including the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Grand Central in Manhattan. A small day-use fee applies when parking at Woodland Valley Campground during the operating season.
